The Furoshikis, tribal and trendy carrier

It is summer time and this is Miami, the city of the Trendy, the in , and the VOGUE!

When I sat down to create my new line of summer carriers, I had a few considerations in mind:

Summer is practical
Summer is light
Summer is colorful
Summer is laid back
Summer loves going out!

So Summer, here is Kiki Hamann's New Furoshikis.

These carriers are IT. Each is reversible, so you get two looks out of each bag. They are light and colorful. I can say a million things about this product, however, one fact stands out: This is the most comfortable way to carry your puppy around town! Comfortable for you... extra cuddly for the dog. It is just like a personal hammock. We have tested with several breeds and they all loved riding their Furoshikis! (Pronounced Furoskis)

Big enough for two tea cups, this bag is so very comfortable to carry. It can also be tossed in a washing machine for super easy cleaning.

It was a hit on our runway show... and it stopped the streets of Miami, during our photo shoot.

If you are travelling this summer and taking your dog with you.. you need a Furoshiki in your suitcase.

With or without the dog... this bag IS IT!

A Kiki Hamann just for Humans, did you see it coming? The Humann line is here and it begins with THE MINI, in this case, the model is the Burlesque.

Mini enough to be Haute... big enough to carry your belongings!

So I needed a small bag that would go out, look glamorous while sitting at the table. I needed a bag that would drink wine and tapas, enjoy the theater, the arts, the movies. I needed a bag that would represent my style. That would be sophisticated while carrying all my needs: make up case, wallet, key-chain, glasses.

So little black dress in my closet, you have just met your match!

Vintage Brooch

The Burlesque is quite seductive! Where did I find the inspiration to make it? The Moulin Rouge, of course. The mini bag… elle parle francais!

The Burlesque is made from several interesting and highly textural layers. A base made from micro suede in dark blood red receives a skirt made of tulle and black lace. It flirts, I am telling you! The lacy skirt is gathered by a trim made of Venice lace and black dangling beads. On the side, I have added a very classic bow of gross grain black ribbon, topped by a Vintage golden brooch. There won’t be another brooch like that; it came from my personal collection.

I have lined the interior in fuzzy silky fabric, so it feels good on your hands while you are looking for your keys and other needs.

Fit for a Brit: The Yorkshire Terrier Tote

So the story goes that on of my first customers bought one of my handbags before she actually bought her dog. The dog in question was a Yorkie.

Yes, that breed.. it does something to us poor humans! Although I am still not owned by a Yorkie, I already have the tote set aside!

Because details matter!

I just had to sit down and create something o…f regal inspiration to honor the delightful and spirited Yorkshire Terrier.

I wanted it to be elegant so it could double as a handbag even when furry does not get to go out!

I’ve chosen colors that blend in with breed’s wonderful medley of shades. Blues, caramels, beiges, tans… so you would think of your Yorkie even at those times when you are using the tote to carry your laptop. It really helps too, that those wonderful hues by God also match easily one’s wardrobe!

For the design I wanted it to be irreverent and audacious, portraying the spirit of the terrier. But what is a Yorkie without a bow!

This tote bag is made from 4 layers, making it sturdy enough to carry either your baby dog or your personal items.It is lined in super soft fuzzy fabric that can be pulled out for spot cleaning.

A safety chain is included so you can clip your dog in for safety.The tote can be carried either over your shoulder or on your arms.

Gorgeous brocades are arranged in collage composition. Attention to all the details. Lace, velvet ribbons and Victorian inspired buttons signal the very British inspiration of my design.

I had the best time conceiving this tote bag. I hope you love it as much as I did creating it!

My creative process is very very selfish. The remote thought of executing something of not mine by conception bothers my intellect. I can be inspired by a character, but when I create that piece, it will be 100% MY interpretation of the role.
I am sorry if I disappoint, but I won't replicate dresses! Not even Oscar ones! I create for Beauty's sake and not entertainment's sake. It is just who I am and I am truthful to my essence!

As for artistic expression this is how I think: Art contained is not Art! It needs an outing. It is exhibitionist, it needs an audience! :)

Urban Elegance, The New Collection

With summer around the corner it is time to launch a lighter collection. I am so excited. Warm weather means dogs go more places and are seen more often. When I sat down at the sketch board to design my newest collection - Urban Elegance, these are the considerations I had in mind.

Phantom Harness, Lexi Harness and New York Harness

1) A dog wears his fashion for the duration of their lifetime. So each piece is an investment and it should be durable, functional and beautiful. I also added season-less to the bowl!

The Kenzo Set (Harness and Belly Band)

2) Many countries are not yet into Dog Clothing per se. With that in mind, I will design great harnesses and Couture Carriers.


The Phantom Tote Bag and Matching Harness

3) The social dog goes places, attends events blends in with people and therefore, I would like for their style to represent their owners and pair up with human fashion so there is no clash!

After putting these three major points on my visual board, I sat down armed with charcoal and colored pencils and began sketching away. The theme for this collection is the Urban Lifestyle. I am totally seduced by the upbeat elegance of Metropolitans. Practical + Stule = Metro Elegant.

Dressing up for the city life means keeping accessories, details haute and investing in quality elements. I love how color is added to solid canvases. I also love how color is washed and less vibrant so it travels through time.

So here's a toast, Cosmo of course, to my newest intense, uplifted, totally gorgeous Summer 2011Collection of Canine Couture. On with the new. Old ideals, new ideas!

The Phantom Tote and Matching Harness

This is a gorgeous tote, and you don't even have to have a dog to have it! Wish the pictures would do it justice so you could see the complexity of the design. It is made from three different black fabrics: A heavy matte brocade, a satiny thin stripped and a larger satiny striped as well. The fabrics are put together so best accentuate each one's properties. It is really beautiful! To this medley in black I have added two beautiful Lacey trims for yet more texture, they frame the fabric composition accentuating the differences.

It is from my new line Urban Elegance and it is all about the buzz of the city. Please notice how I play with the negative spaces in this brocade composition. Chains add pizazz to the modern lines of the tote. It is black, it goes with every color. It is super!

The handles of the tote were planned so you can either carry it over your shoulder and have puppy next to you, or to carry it on your arm and stroll around showing it off.

This tote also features two side pockets for your sunglasses, wallet, leashes, cell phones, keys, etc. It comes with a light weight safety chain that can easily be clipped to the back of a harness.


A matching harness makes it just city perfect!

I have created The Tote for all the dogs that understand their royalty status. Yes, they like to be carried around (never ever left behind), don’t really do well in leashes and demand comfort. I have also created it for the humans like me with a fondness for practical products that remain functional while being haute. This handbag is all of the above and then some. It is hop in-hop out practical and always ready to go.


It is all about the details!

I spent a long time designing this tote. It had to be perfect all the way. The perfect size, the perfect shape. I chose to give it an oval shape so doggie is as comfortable lying down as standing up. The bag sits right under your arm, so your baby feels secure and safe at all times and you have her / him right under your vigilant eye. It is light and feels very comfortable when you wear it over your shoulder.

The bag is engineered in four layers, which means a lot of sewing time, no short cuts and hours of hand stitching. On the other hand, this hard work translates into perfect shaping and durability.


Two large side pockets for your trinkets!

The inside of the tote is lined with a soft mattress, making great bedding on the go. The fuzzy lining can be pulled out for easy spot cleaning. A safety chain attached to a d-ring allows you to clip your baby to the handbag.

My goal for my new Totes is to bring the same couture treatment I have devoted to my garments into a practical, easy to handle carrier that loves going places and getting attention!

Styling Your Dog Goes Beyond Clothing!

We got up early this morning and headed straight to Miramar to visit Charliston and Shirley at The Pet Club. Kenzo was due for a new look worthy of my new collection and I wouldn’t trust him to anybody but the only Pet Stylists in the Miami area. Yes, that’s right, pet stylist is exactly who they are, much more than just groomers.

As you walk into their Shop, a delightful Spa / Boutique, you are immediately struck by color! Yes, bright Brazilian colors completely fill the place with so much charm, energy, bringing a boost of happiness to any breathing being. Charliston and Shirley are indeed people of color.

They work their magic that goes beyond just using their clippers. Charliston, takes Kenzo from my hands, hugs him and analyzes carefully the work in progress. It had been months since he had had his last grooming and my fur ball is in desperate need for some serious styling. Kenzo is to become the new face of Kiki Hamann. The transformation is about to happen. Shirley runs to the back room and comes back with a pile of books on Poodle grooming. She illustrates with pictures all the ideas they have in mind. It is so visual and easy to understand, my grooming anxiety quietly fades out! I am so relieved to be dealing with professionals. We decide on a shorter cut to enhance my fashion. We keep his pom poms for extra charm (my French heart needs the pom poms) and we style his ear to tassels for added personality.

We leave our boy in the careful hands of our experts and go out for a bite. I can’t wait to see my Kenzo, transformed! Oh My, and what a beautiful transformation.
He looks exactly how I wanted him to look. He is elegant, he looks smart, stylish and metropolitan. The barking picture of my new collection!

Madison Ave with Very Haute Canines

It is 29º F in Manhattan, and a few hours from arriving all the way from Miami. Here we are my friend Darsey and I strolling down Madison Ave with our very chic Canines, Millie LaRue and Miu Miu. The scene is so Metropolitan perfect! The dogs are sporting their Kiki Hamann Fur Coats made just for the occasion! Ahhh Manhattan never misses the unpredictable!

Posing the dogs under such harsh weather is no easy task, especially when so many walkers cannot help but stop to greet the elegant pooches. There are clicks coming from android phones, cameras of all nature, iPods, Blackberries. We are indeed causing a commotion. My heart fills with warmth from witnessing my Canine Fashion getting all the attention.

Suddenly a man, as if provided by the universe, comes running our way at speed of light. He throws himself on the floor and tells us with confidence, “I will get the shot!” The man is photographer Brandon Stanton of Humans of New York (www.humansofnewyork.com). I will remember this moment forever. Brandon is fun, full of energy, with a superhuman eye for what's happening. He is the buzz!
On his website he mentions “ The crowd has a face” and I will add to that… and the city has an EYE!

Countdown to Canine Couture

This is it! The evening dog lovers have been waiting for! Tonight at The Mediterranean Mansion on South Beach is celebrity designer Kiki Hamann's Unleashed Love event.

Last night at South Beach's Kone restaurant, Kiki Hamann hosted a pre-event party complete with haute dogs, fabulous food and drink. Those in attendance experienced the best Japanese sushi infused with a touch of Brazilian excitement and Kiki's charming personality.

If you've never had the pleasure of meeting Kiki in person, let me just tell you what she's like. She's so easy-going, classy and down-to-earth. She has exquisite taste and a love for dogs that runs very deep. She's generous, caring and intelligent. All of these characteristics translate swimmingly to her designs. Nothing tacky or cheesy here. Just sheer elegance. Period.

And, to have a Kiki product for your precious little one is like having Kiki herself love and hold your sweet dog. I can't think of anything better.

The Godiva & Diamonds Dress

February is such a romantic month and I just can’t help but to tune in with the vibrations of Love. Nope, this is not your conventional pink Valentines dress, this time, the inspiration comes from dark, rich, decadent, full of texture, sensorial, European “Chocolat” ! During my travels I have learned how to ask for the quintessential delight in different languages, dialects and even sign for it! So here is my personal tribute to yet, another passion modeled by my Petit Bonbon! :)

This dress got so much attention during our photo shoot. It has an element of non expected, never seen before. It is haute all the way. The design features a vest made from dark chocolate taffeta. It is all gathered top for a dimensional textured look. Stripes of white sparkling crystal ( to be more precise, 115 stones) draw the eye to a cocoa shantung skirt. This is a very special fabric, shimmering heavy shantung with charcoal copper undertone.

The skirt is armed for extra body, in the best Monroe style. A side bow features a crystal spiral just there for extra charm!

So, not your typical conventional Valentines dress, huh? Then again, I am not your typical conventional girl. This Valentine’s Day, break all the rules and wrap yourself in Chocolate and Diamonds! Dare to be innovative!

The Spring Break Dress

It is called a distraction! :) Kiki was busy in her atelier creating Valentines fashion and new Spring items when she spotted her personal Pandora Box where she keeps her wonderful favorite items, pieces of fabric, trims, buttons, you know, the personal goodies and of course her imagination. Along with the best goodies in the workshop, inside that box lies quietly DISTRACTION, and this is why she hides it safely away to prevent Distraction from flying out of the box.

Oops, it happened again!

The Spring Break Dress is a refreshing distraction bringing colors in the forms of flowers and birds to life!

This is a perfect little girl's dress, with double armed skirts. A pleated fuchsia satin belt at the waist nests the migrating birds!

It is a breath of happiness!

There will be only one. Special goodies don't come in bolts!

The Lovely Dress - A Valentines Special Edition

It is such a wonderful feeling to have the atelier surrounded by the romantic colors of Valentines! Romantic, that was the note I took to heart while creating my 2011 Valetines Dress. So as you glance through this album, picture yourself sipping wonderful Champagne… having guilty feelings about finishing up a box of expensive chocolate… dressing up in delightful scents, listening to romantic music…

My Miu Miu definitely embraced the romantic mood the dress called for and I had the hardest time knowing when to stop the photo shoot… As you will see, she became Miss Valentines herself.

The inspiration for just the right pink came from yet another of my personal memories, this time my favorite chocolate candy – Sonho de Valsa (Dream of Waltz). Strong, feminine yet, daring!

My little canine fatale is dressed in a beautiful layered dress, made from the best imported Peau de Soie in vibrant pink. For a layered look, I have given the dress a scalloped over skirt, made from divine striped organza in cheerful pink. Yes, that is right, pink on pink; it is all about the pink.

The dress is complimented by a vine of crystal flowers and fuchsia roses that run from the bodice down to the waist.

Because Miu Miu has been a wonderful little girl, she deserved an extra. Yes, isn’t life about the extras? Notice in her little paw a Crystal Bracelet.. what is a girl to do without diamonds on Valentine’s Day?

The bracelet is elastic and so much fun!

The Essentials - A Suitcase for the World Traveller Dog

Happy amazing 2011 everyone! This is my first product of the New Year! It is a celebration just as a expect the year to be!

I have had so much fun developing and creating this project! The inspiration was my personal life style doing one of the things I love the most... traveling with my dogs!

How can we take home along? The answer is of course, in a Kiki Hamann Essentials suitcase! :)

An antique inspired suitcase was the start for my journey. As I stripped down the original suitcase to its bare structure, hundreds of ideas came to my mind. I wanted the essentials to have an old world feel... European and timeless! Bois de Rose shades, touches of sage / light green to celebrate the spring to come! Printemps!

The essentials is a suitcase that doubles as a bed on the go. It was inspired by the wonderful antique doll trunks ... a tradition almost gone now!

Inside the trunk I created a big pocket to store toys and trinkets. I have given it a mattress that can be flipped from luxurious fur, when the weather or AC is chilly, to a fabric choice. Either look is beatuiful! The trunk is all redone in European fabric and finished in gold trimmings.

What goes in the trunk:
The essentials, of course! :)

A reversible mattress (yes, it can be washed). Luxurious Faux Lo / Hi Rabbit fur on one side and matching fabric on the other side.

A document case ( for all the traveling documents including dog shots and itinerary).

A long old fashion flannel nightgown with 3/4 sleeves so baby can have her beauty sleep in total comfort.

A gorgeous ivory ultra suede harness with a quadruple bow and and matching leash for day walks.

A gorgeous layered dress that is so elegant I want to scream! The Lily Dress.

Two stainless steel water / food bowls that fit into a pouch for a quick drink / snack on the go.

A case for jewelery and little bows (lined in satin of course), with dividers for all the precious trinkets.

A pouch with on the go grooming essentials: A brush (embellished by me), doggie wipes and doggie breath mints.

A world traveler sweater, knitted by me!

And least but not last, a bath robe, that is so soft you would wish you had one as well.

Forgot to mention a matching name tag!

The Miuccia Winter Coat

There are different approaches to Winter Fashion. You can go either cute or Kiki Hamann elegant!

As we are beginning to experience the first cold nights of the year I sat down to design a winter coat for my own dogs. The ultimate objective was to design not only a very comfortable piece, but a timeless one that could ...be worn for several winters to come. TIMELESS is crucial for great winter fashion!

The Miuccia Winter Coat is very special to me as it was inspired by my own itsy bit chihuahua Miu Miu.

It is made from rustic wool tweed in shades of chocolate, cream and dusty pink. Yes, it speaks French! :)

A hood was mandatory to protect those gorgeous little ears from winter ear aches. But what is a hood without a Kiki Hamann touch? Ours is lined in caramel brown plumes for a perfect "Eskimo" face!

This winter coat is not only beautiful on the outside but on the inside as well. Completely seamless, it is lined in dark chocolate chenille that feels amazing to the touch. It is mink like, completely smooth.

Beautiful ornate lacy trim contours the entire coat, with leather details. It was all applied by hand, the process itself take a whole day to be completed.

Pewter buttons and antique heart clasp adds a whole new dimension to the strong elegant lines of the coat.

Leather, rough wool tweed, pewter elements, smooth chenille, chains... VOILA, OOOH LALAH.... I love it!

My personal thoughts on the creation process!

- When I create something I think of myself first... would I wear it? If the answer is a of course self, I would.. I go for it!

- I design with thoughts and I think with images! I just can't separate the two processes.

- When I design a collection I have a vision... who, where, how and why. It all comes together in my mind when I have a clear understanding of purpose and intentions. Class, functionality and a bit of exhibitionism! :) It is designed for the stylish ...dog lover with an urge for "out of the box" fashion.

- If you have walked into my life, you are now part of my inspiration and a living character of my life story. I believe in the power of connecting energies.. I never walk alone and this is why my journey is always pleasant and enjoyable!

- I need Sushi to create amazing fashion! My stomach is Asian!

- I am completely unfocused, thus I create. Allow yourself to scatter and you will find yourself geniusly creative.

- When I say "Impossibly Better" it is then, time to stop and send it to the universe!

- I refuse to pay for publications because I don't believe in paying anyone to tell the world what I want them to think about my work!

- My dreams are too big for my pillow!

- We, Fashion Designers, are always a season ahead, an emotion behind and an attitude on time!

- Nothing aggravates me more than people telling me what to do!

- When the unpredictable happens.. it could just be God rearranging outcomes. Embrace changes!

- My numbers have colors... my colors have scents... my scents have forms...my forms have sounds...my sounds have movement In the two left sides of my brain, I create with all my senses! Nonsense? Nope, Kikisense!

- Great ideas come to the mind when you are not obsessively searching for them

- Fashion is a memento. It is absorbing visual creation with all the senses. It is all about intentions

The Black and White Collection Runway Show - Winter 2010

I was long due to blog about our Winter 2010 Runway Show : The Black & White Collection. It was spectacular in every sense of the word and if you were there with us that night, you know exactly what I am talking about. What makes a successful runway show anyway? In my belief, it is great story telling , script writing and amazing fashion put together as a show by a formidable director of operations. The conductor of our show was Alex Freire, the man behind everything and all the right choices!

What makes a fashion show unforgettable? It is all in the details: the right crowd, the right models, the right setting, the right drinks and food and makeup artist and hair stylists and very important; the right music and light system bringing just the perfect energy to play. A runway fashion show is a display of attitude and it should mimic the designer's intention for the line being presented.

I am so proud of this fashion show as it represented my vision as a designer from the step and repeat down to the beautiful closing. I will dare to say: Canine Fashion has not ever in history been presented the way I have done in this event. Canine Couture has taken a whole different meaning in the dictionary!

The event was held at the courtyard of One Bal Harbour Hotel and Spa. Impossibly more Miami! The outside patio faces the picture perfect view of a beachfront oasis. The weather was just right , thank you God!

As our guests walked into our show they were greeted by our official photographer, Carlos Hernandez a.k.a.UKMCBO and had the chance to pose at the the Step and Repeat designed by me. From the door to the runway, everything was Black & White perfection, setting the mood. I was completely flattered to notice all of our guests dressed up in black & white just for us. This commitment from the crowd to the theme of my collection got tears running down my cheeks and I knew then, I was writing fashion history.

As our guests mingled, sipped SexCC Liquids and ate the great food provided by Boteco, I was busy getting pretty for the night at Hair 1160, not too far from the hotel. Behind the scenes, make up artist Katherine Johnson got our human models looking runway ready.

Canine Couture with real fashion approach was about to debut on the black carpet.

Black and White dogs of all sizes made their way onto the runway presenting the fashion of KHCC. Leather handbags, carriers, pouches, dresses, harnesses did not fail to impress a very enthusiastic audience.

When the show was over, I came in to collect my personal laurel crown. Yes, it felt special to be there receiving the applause. It was so much fun!

I want to make a special mention to Patrick Lopez a.k.a. Xpresso Music for always providing the best soundtrack and for O & J Electric for making sure that generator was up all night running!
For The Pet Club for creating the Dog Bar and distributing treats to our furry guests! Nick Betancourt for stepping up last minute and helping to connect!

Black & White Collection - The Fashion Spread

When I design a collection I have a vision... who, where,how and why. It all comes together in my mind when I have a clear understanding of purpose and intentions. My Black & White Collection is inspired by the busy urban lifestyle. Class, functionality and a bit of exhibitionism! :) It is designed for the stylish dog lover with an urge for out of the box fashion. My thoughts were so elegantly translated by the professional eye of photographer Carlos Hernandez (UKMCBO photography) as he shot my favorite exhibitionists: Model Frederique Levy and Chihuahuas Miu Miu and Roberta. The Cardinal of Christmas Dress

Once again I turned to my childhood for the inspiration behind this dress. The most magical memories of my family holidays are represented in this piece.
People mostly associate Christmas with the color red… I dared to be different and again non-conforming; in my own perception Christmas has always been green! Green a...s in Christmas trees… as in garlands... as in rich welcoming wreaths… and mistletoes, as in bowls of pistachio nuts… green as in life itself! No other time of the year brings us the life intensity found at Christmas and I wanted to wish you all a very merry green Christmas like the ones I used to know!

At our home, we gathered for Christmas supper at the midnight of December 24. After supper is when the present exchanges happened. The children used to gather around the three, counting the boxes… and waiting for the cuckoo clock to announce our favorite midnight of the year.

This dress tells stories of green imperial Christmases, garlands and flowers and memories of ornate stair rails - Memories of the magical cuckoo bird bringing us the most whimsical midnight of the year. Cuckoo clock, golden ribbons, evergreens, white petals… it is all here in Canine Couture Style in this timeless piece.

The dress is made from emerald colored cotton that goes marvelous with every fur color. It is trimmed in luxurious golden lace for a very imperial look. A garland of organdy ribbon comes down the dress, caught in blossoms of white Poinsettia. The dress comes alive when a red feathered cardinal lands at the waist giving it an absolute decorative value and 3D impression. The skirt is lined with red tulle for extra support and charm.

A passion for the ballet has inspired me to create the perfect little black dress every fur girl must have! From the tip of a ballerina's shoes to my sketch board, I bring you my own version of the Black Swan!

The shantung bodice sets the stage for beautiful ruffled organza wings!

Feathers around the neck and on the side of the bodice suggest beautiful swan elegance. The skirt is trimmed in arabesque rosettes and is fully lined in black tulle!

The torso is trimmed by a string of crystals. This is pure luxury living !

The Black & White Fashion Show - The Location

It is a very windy day in South Beach when we decide to inspect the site that is to host our Winter / Fall 2010-11 fashion show. Finding the right location for this show was no easy task. Our collection is about metropolitan lifestyle and we wanted the party site to reflect this vibe and add style and glamor to the preview of our collection. The address chosen is the rooftop of a beautiful brand new building - Boulan South Beach on the corner of 21st and Collins.

With the perfect address in hands, we arrive prompt and eager to work on the plans for the big day. I am immediately relieved to know there are plenty of parking opportunities around the block plus knowing we will have valet parking service for the day. Instant peace of mind as we all know parking in Miami can be quite hectic!

We are greeted by publicist Edward de Valle and his team. Their enthusiasm is contagious. With us, our assistant, our photographer, Carlos Hernandez and our consultant : Miu Miu, the chihuahua. Here are the considerations we will be making as we walk the building for the first time.

The Ice Princess Dress

I got a very special request... to create an Ice Princess Dress for a very special dog all the way in Germany!

The request included stole and lots of bling blings...

Andrea my friend, this is your Ice Princess Dress!

I wanted the overall look of the dress to be that of frosted ice... lots of silver and pure white as well as rabbit fur, for a touch of off white texture!

To awaken the bodice of the dress, I treated pure snow white linnen with a breath of silver plastic silver paint. The result is very Arctic and so beautiful!

To this linen bodice, a belt of crystals was added, just for fun. How much sparkle can a Princess get? The answer was.. not enough!

A beautiful frosted organdy bow nests a crystal brooch for the regal element!

The skirt is made from sparkling organza... the sparkles look like icicles! An underskirt made from the finest tulle gives the skirt a lift and volume.

Ahhh, a mini stole made from faux lo / hi rabbit fur compliments the look.

Andrea, hope you enjoy your new dress ... as much as I enjoyed making it up for you!

The Faberge Alexandra Dress - Lily of the Valley

Once again, I turned to the works of famous jeweler Carl Fabergé for inspiration. The second of my Faberge inspired dresses; “Alexandra” comes with a special fondness as I find this particular jeweled egg to be the most feminine of them all!

The “Lillies of the Valley” is one of the two eggs in Art Nouveau style, with strong passionate colors. It was presented in 1898 to Tsaritsa Alexandra Fyodorovna, one lucky Lady and here I am, over 100 years later transforming this vision into a gorgeous dress for you little Czarina! Yes, it is pure opulence.

This dress has used every single skill I have learned throughout my life, it is completely hand made and I am very proud of it.

From creation to execution it took me nearly a month and as you will see the end result was worth every minute of the time.

The bodice of the dress is made from silk shantung that has been tinted with a breath of golden dye to resemble the enamel used on the original egg.

The result color is three dimensional and exquisite! To this perfect background, I have added silk quilted lily of the valley leaves. Notice, they are

not solid green, but have a gradient effect.

These were hand made and quilted one by one, so they would stand out and add 3d depth to the dress. Strands of golden thread hold dozens of pearl lilies, again put together one by one by me.

Each of the pearls received a golden crown to mimic the lilies. The bouquet of lilies is tied by an over sized gradient green satin bow to which more pearl lilies were hand sewn.

Strings of crystals frame the lilies, just like in the original Faberge Egg. To the collar area, I have added a gorgeous little heart topped by a crown, representing the surprise lockets that are hidden by this egg. It is very regal!

The four-layer organza skirt also receive

d special treatment - A dip in golden dye, matching perfectly the bodice. Pure Faberge Enamel in fabric form! The skirt is decorated with gorgeous golden trim all around the rim.

Everything in this dress is special as none of the materials were used as they came originally They all received special artistic treatment and went through a transformation. The result is pure Kiki Hamann.

The Isabel Dress

Who's your living bouquet?

My July dress is a refreshing breath for the very hot months of summer.

The inspiration behind this dress is the flower that marked my childhood growing up in Brazil. The beautiful blue hydrangea of the Imperial city of Petropolis, our family vacation destination.

The imperial city is known as Hydrangea capital of Brazil. Blue hydrangea bushes bloom everywhere and in every house.

This flower has yet a special significance. It was the favorite flower of Princess Isabel, a Princess who was not just noble in her title but noble in her heart. Princess Isabel was known as " Isabel the Redemptress" . Acting as regent she signed the final edict declaring the abolition of slavery in Brazil

This dress honors this outstanding princess.

The bring the Blue Hydrangea to life,
I created the bodice of this dress by overlaying blue and lavender petals, one by one to resemble the flower. These petals are hand sewn to a baby pink background. The bottom of the bodice is embellished by several Lavender organdy ribbons. It has dimension and texture, a 3D experience all in itself.

To bring yet more layers to this dress, I added two elements to the skirt. First a layer of royal blue nylon tulle to give the skirt support. Over the royal blue, a double layer of soft pink organza. The combination of this layers result in multi colored skirt, that reflects the light and mimics the flower.

The biggest challenge of this dress was the photography! :) My household camera, had difficulty focusing the layers and transparency of this dress. The photos you see here definitely do not do justice to this very feminine dress.

It is a boost of colors!

The Sterling Dress

This is a very special dress made exclusively for my Miu Miu to match my silver tunic at an special event.

I have a passion for silver and for a long time I was wanting to create a silver sterling dress. I searched for months for the right fabric.. and then it showed up... a beautiful gray rustic cotton threaded with silver floss. Divine and elegant. To this gray silver combination I added a unique gorgeous vintage brooch I have had for a very very long long time - a beautiful butterfly with rhinestones and little pearls.

The butterfly sits on a big white organza bow.

The Eliza Dress - "My Fair Lady"

When My Fair Lady, the motion picture came out in 1964, I was still a baby and would never have guessed that in years to come it would become my personal reference for elegance and style. So when I decided I wanted to do a high society dress for a canine lady, nothing seemed more natural than to represent Eliza Doolittle in her Ascott Opening dress.

The tremendous costume designing of Cecil Beaton, whose visual contributions immediately impacted European and U.S. fashion trends touched my heart and I just had to do it! To bring Eliza back to life, in black and white canine couture style.

The Ascott scene / horse races is a fashion masterpiece! Many famous designers were invited to collaborate with Mr. Beaton in the biggest serious fashion display in Hollywood of all times.

The challenge was to do an entire scene in Black and White outfits. I invite you to watch one more time, the Ascott scene and be mesmerized by its phenomenal outfits.

French lace, Silk Shantung, and 100% pure silk, were brought with me from my travels to Europe. I would have nothing but the best for my Eliza. This dress was born during my flight back to the US and I sketched with passion for seven hours … it was the shortest and most enjoyable flight ever! :)No “blings” on this dress... just amazing elegance and phenomenal quality materials. The best money can buy!

For the bodice of the dress, highly textured french lace is embroidered in silk white ribbons, forming flowers. The lace is applied to a backing of black shantung to give it life and make it the lace stand out. The full, armed skirt is made from 100% Italian Silk in black and white stripes. It was quite challenging to arm this skirt. Interface, gave it the lift and volume it needed.

Eliza, required some special bows. An over-sized Shantung black and white bow nests two roses: One black and one white both carrying feather tails.

The black and white in this outfit represents the two Elizas... the Lady and the Flower girl. Hard to say, which one I love the most!

Ah, a hat! Must have a hat! One that would sit well on the tiny heads I was creating for! More than that, it had to be a comfortable fit, so a dog could really wear it.

My inspiration for the format of the hat, was totally equestrian. Inspired by the Horse Racing, I redesigned a Riding Top Hat! All in black and white of course with all trimmings a lady would desire. On the hat... a tribute to a Eliza's days as a Flower Girl and therefore, the only touch of color of this outfit.

It has been wonderful shopping for, designing and creating this dress! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did imagining and reinventing Eliza!

Professor Higgins would approved and Eliza would have danced all night!

The Mad Hatter Harness

A couture harness for boys was way due and I had to deliver it! I do love creating for the little guys, as it seems to be very difficult to find high quality pieces other than tuxedos!

Still in Wonderland, I searched for inspiration! and yes, the Tea Party is my favorite part of the story.. he was staring at me and screaming to be created! My own version of the Madhatter!
Permission to be mad! I closed my eyes and envisioned my own hatter...
A dash of Elton John, a little bit of David Bowie, something of Charles Chaplin and a lot of Kiki Hamann!
There is logic in this craziness!
The vest is made from Great black and golden Brocade to which i have sewn a strip of black suede.On the back of the vest, there are a few special items. A heart, stolen from the Queen Of Hearts herself and a teapot. One needs to be always ready for unexpected celebrations!
A pocket watch and an hour glass just to make sure time won't pass by unnoticed!
Beautiful ornate buttons are connected by a chain!O huge bow tie is made from satine shantung. It is over sized. I wouldn't have it any other way!
And for the hat...
the hat is done in beautiful black ribbon. Madhatter may be mad, but definitely a man of class and silver spoons! I have added diamonds and gemstones for extra glitz! A few teapots and coffee pots... and as for that Kiki unexpected touch... I incorporated the rabbit to his hat.

Wonders of wonderland.. there is no right or wrong, just different perceptions!

I just had to share... my little girl, Nina, the model in these pictures is an amazing dog. I truly believe she captures my mind and my vision for each creation as she very obviously becomes the character I had in mind for each model. In this photo shooting, I was amazed to noticed that she even looks like my sketch... same expression!

The Alice Dress

This Dress took more than just imagination...it took uniting three countries and eight different suppliers to allow me to have in hands the materials to materialize my mind into an Alice Dress...
With so much Wonderland going on, I too, caught the fever and got carried away into revisiting and re-creating Alice.
My own Alice!

The inspiration did not come from Hollywood. In this case, it was a perfect combination of my early childhood memories and my College girl notes.... :-)
I grew up, or better saying... did not grow up at all, reading the great Lewis Carroll.
A passion for fine china, tea parties, hats and hatters and all things Victorian, bit me and I simply could not ignore Alice. Queen Victoria herself was an avid reader of Alice! I know it!!!

I invite you to celebrate in great style, yet another "unbirthday" as you travel with me into this fabulous dress and unveil its mysteries!

The Blue, had to be Alice perfect! Not baby blue, not grayish blue, not sky blue... I dug hard into my head to find just the right shade and it came from the old English Wedgewood China. More precisely a collection of Wedgewood boxes that sat in my living room as I was growing up!( I included a picture of it)...

So, Wedgewood Blue and Opal White was certainly an Alice beginning! To this ever so perfect background, I added a splash of Victorian Black as I buttoned down this dress in black bows and filigree buttons that sit over a strip of lace.
Ruffles of white organza make up for the lack of puffy sleeves and a big, constructed bow marries ruffles, lace and bows.

The bodice of the dress is made from Silk Shantung and lined with top quality Suede. The skirt is made from two shades of blue organza layered for dimension and fullness.

But this would not be Wonderland if I did not get a smile out of you....So I gave Alice a big watch to make sure she would not miss the party and I intentionally hung it up side down to express the Wonderland nonsense... and of course, a super unique little tea pot

for your tea cup!

A beautiful silver chain made up of little birds join together the watch and the tea cup!

A very Victorian Cameo was then added to the neck... Alice was most definitely a silver spoon baby!

The Andalusia Dress

I am very motivated by my surroundings when I create! The sounds, the environment, the scents... All my senses create along with me! It is more than just visual!
To the flammable music of the Gypsy Kings - strong , passionate, danceable, energizing, romantic and so sensual I sit to create my next dress. I wanted to represent the undeniable Hispanic Heritage of Miami, the city I have embraced as my home.
The sun is setting in amazing colors of red as we walk the Espanola Way. The street is packed with little cafes and beautiful people. The music is provocative. There is loud clapping and so much laughter. The occasion calls for Red Wine and Tapas. The whole environment is so seductive!
The flamenco dancer performs with passion and fervor always striving for grace and dignity.
Coming from that place in my imagination, I bring you this strong sexy and dramatic dress! It is "caliente" and it definitely speaks "Espanol" !

The bodice of the dress is made from silky burgundy fabric that could have been spilled from a jar of Sangria! It has beautiful accents of black velour flowers.

The skirt is the fullest I have ever done. Two layers of burgundy organza underneath a layer of beautiful black lace! It sits perfectly!

Red flowers could not have been left out as they are the essence of Flamenco!

Now, as for the Kiki Hamann touch, a little pill box hat, brings flowers to the head! The hat is held in place by black organza ribbons!

This is Drama... Kiki Hamann style.

The Faberge Rothchild Dress

The Faberge Dress - Inspired by the beautiful Jeweled Eggs from the House of Faberge! Made from the best and for the best!

I have been drooling over these eggs for just about my entire life and inspired by this secret passion of mine I decided to bring this influence into my March Dress.

I wanted to create a Royal Pink Dress with class and elegance worthy of a Czarina!

From the Rothschild Faberge I got inspired to find just the right shade of dusty soft pink!

The bodice was inspired by the exterior work of several of the Eggs. All laced in crystals and enamel.

I had to add a piece of jewel. And in this case, a vintage crystal brooch , what a luxury! To the bodice of the dress I added embroidered french knots and hot pressed a few crystals.
Not to mention a four looped over sized organza bow.

The full and long skirt made from Baby Pink, adds to the regal look!

But... a merely Kiki Hamann element was still missing... and to this ever so elegant and feminine look I added a Stole made from Faux Ostrich Fur in complimentary dusty pink.

The Stole brings Russian Splendor to this piece and it is fun even when worn by itself.

This dressed is lined in the finest ultrasuede for the comfort of your dog. The stole is also lined in ultra suede and handstiched.

This is an unique, and one of a kind dress made by me, for you.

You are buying more than just a dress for your dog, in fact you are buying a piece of me, my imagination, my vision! :)

The Wee Dress

St. Patrick day has grown up!

It was divine creating this dress ... from my childhood imagination of whimsical fairies and wee creatures into Canine Couture that can be worn throughout the year!

I had to find just the right materials and the right shades of green! Nope, not your ordinary Pat's green... but extraordinary Gem Greens!

The bodice of this dress is made from brilliant Mossy green silk with mustard undertones, truly magical. Over this ever so perfect green i have hand placed a river of tiny silk orange blossoms with pearl bead centers. Orange blossoms represent pure and sincere love, nothing is more whimsical than UNCONDITIONAL LOVE!

The skirt had to be ever so perfect and full as if it had been sewn by the hands of Wee People! Ahhhh, and I got just the most gorgeous and opulent ruffled organza in yellow and chartreuse green,layered for texture. An over sized organza bow tops the dress to which I applied forest leaves and yet more orange blossoms. There are blossoms on the neck as well

The little pearls on the center of each cupped flower is for the forest's dew drop!

Voila! The Wee Dress.. magical yet, red carpet perfect!

Valentino Valentines Dress

Who can resist a Lady in Red! This is my very limited edition Valentines Dress for 2010.

It is a tribute to wonderful Valentino and his love for deep reds! By the way, Valentino is the ultimate dog lover - with a passion for Pugs!

I think you all saw the croquis I drew last week and perhaps were wondering how it turned out! Seeing the dress pop out from paper into fabric in 3D is still one of my passions. From imagination to the Hanger! :)

This dress features a bodice made from blood red micro suede, lovely to the touch! A heart of red petals (cut one by one by me) and hand sewn in place. The flirty skirt is done in even deeper red, made from silky organza! It really adds the glamor and divine elegance the occasion asks for!

To finalize.. a double bow, made from organza with a touch of glitter, crowned by little flowers. Just to make it girlie perfect!

Femme Fatale Mini Dress

Pola Negri was the inspiration for the Femme Fatale ultra suede dress harness from the early 30's when Hollywood did not need words to make an impression!

This breath taking harness is made from camel colored ultra suede, cougar print chiffon and most astonishing vintage custom brooch.

The Chiffon is carefully draped at the center to add dimension and crown the brooch.

A very sassy and short skirt is added for extra charm. This dress is timeless elegance!

This unique piece was originally created for a Red Carpet Runway Show and now resides in the U.K.!
